AWR Summary

The AWR act came into effect on October 1st, 2011. It applies to all temporary workers and confers equivalent rights to them after various periods of work for any and every employer.

Unless you have already contracted with a temporary worker to supply them to a hirer for a period approaching or in excess of the minimum accumulated 12 weeks referred to in the act, then in the first few weeks employees will not have accrued worked weeks towards the period necessary for gaining equivalent rights.

Our Solution

This site will provide a means to eliminate the pain associated with having to formulate some sort of equation and then apply it to all your agency workers' shifts since 1st Oct 2011 on a weekly basis. This service is provided under the Data Protection Act , Data Warehouse reg number: Z8261296 (Added value applications Ltd.). Simply upload a file generated by saving (for example) an Excel spreadsheet as a CSV file. The file should have columns for each of the following:

  • An employee reference number
  • A hirer reference number
  • The job type or skill
  • The day's date of employment
  • Any single character if the row represents a shift that was worked but is paused under the AWR conditions

The calculator ­­will then calculate consecutive weeks, breaks, clock pause periods and clock running periods, and produce a summary for each hirer and each worker as shown below:
